Your first day at INSA!
Now that you’ve gone through the Parcoursup application process, completed your administrative registration, and filled out your mentor questionnaire, it’s time for you to explore the INSA Lyon campus!!
To get to campus, you have several options:
› Public transportation:
- If, as a daring adventurer, you’re ready to venture into the Lyon jungle, then the T1 will be waiting for you as you exit Part-Dieu Station. Head toward IUT-Feyssine, get off at INSA Einstein, and get ready to face your first challenge: unload all your bags within the allotted time—otherwise, you’ll have to go back to the IUT to get them.
- ❗The T4 and T6 can also take you to INSA, but unless you get lost in the jungle, you won’t need them to get there from Part-Dieu.
› Car:
- If you’re lucky enough to own an off-road 4x4 that can tackle the wilderness of Insaliens’ parking lots—or better yet, have a private driver (also known as a “parent”) who’d do anything to see you get into college—then the map below might help you out; it shows the parking spots from last year. You should also receive an email with all the details for this year. (And videos from your favorite upperclassmen on Instagram)
› Airplane:
- If you’re coming from far away and are flying into Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, you’ll need to take the Rhônexpress for 30 minutes to the Lyon Part-Dieu stop, then take the T1 to INSA Einstein!

Arrival: ?? September
› The administrative chain
You’ll start with the not-so-fun part, aka the administrative process. You should have signed up via email for a time slot for your arrival between ?? and ?? September. It takes place at Louis Néel: the long building across from the Croix-Luizet tram stop. That’s where you’ll receive your most precious possession, your student ID! A little tip: choose your photo carefully—you’ll be keeping it for five years… (be careful on Pégase when they ask for a passport photo—don’t make the same mistake I did…) If you end up in the orientation group because you lost your card during an adventure (or at a buffet at the RI), you’ll be glad to have your best profile ;)
When you arrive (at the time slot you’ve chosen), start right away with the administrative process, which will be in the Louis Néel building (don’t panic—everything will be clearly marked, signposted, and re-signposted…)
At the end of the process, you’ll also be able to tour all the student housing options to meet seasoned students in your major (if you have one) and learn about other benefits offered by INSA.

› Ta Miff
Your miff (family) will be waiting for you on the big lawn right next door (the PC). Go see them to pick up your gear and meet your mentor and all the other members of your future tribe!
You can join your miff’s Instagram, Messenger (or other) group to get updates on upcoming events!

› The supply chain
You’ll also get to take part in the Orientation Circuit, organized by the best orientation committee (in all objectivity). It’s a program packed with challenges where you’ll meet other new recruits just like you. So don’t miss out!

› Your turn
You can also pick up the keys to your dorm and sign your lease. Heads up: if you’re a minor, it’s easier if your parents are there to sign for you. But don’t panic—the administration will email them the lease to sign 😉 (and they’ll be after you with a machete if you don’t sign it by November—speaking from experience).
You’ll also get to meet your roommate (You’ll probably meet someone super nice, so don’t stress! There’s also an Excel sheet you can fill out if you want to search for the perfect roommate! And if, worst-case scenario, things don’t work out, you can always switch adventure partners).
Finally, if you’re bored, there are plenty of activities on the computer or on the volleyball courts, and you can also visit INSA in search of a lost relic!
